It also allows us to build a diagnostic baseline from which we can measure changes that result from dental procedures and your dental hygiene routine.<\/p>\n<h2>Here are some of the many reasons why we use digital x-rays:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Detection of new cavities<\/li>\n<li>Checking the inflammation of your gums<\/li>\n<li>Determine bone health<\/li>\n<li>Search for early signs of gum disease<\/li>\n<li>Determine if you are a candidate for orthodontic appliances<\/li>\n<li>Diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumours<\/li>\n<li>Assess damage in case of trauma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>X-rays help detect cavities and more insidious dental or bone lesions that are not visible to the naked eye. With digital imaging our team is able to provide real-time advice and reduce radiation by more than 90% compared to traditional x-rays.<\/p>\n<p>Digital X-rays also allow us to see the images immediately on our screens and retrieve valuable diagnostic information to help better plan your treatments. In addition, digital imaging allows us to store the dental images of each patient and transfer them quickly to appropriate specialists.<\/p>\n<h2>What to expect when taking digital radiographs<\/h2>\n<p>When you come to the Bellerive Clinic to have digital x-rays taken, we will take every precaution possible to reduce the already very low levels of radiation exposure.<\/p>\n<p>Digital X-rays are used safely for the majority of patients, including children, pregnant women, and women of childbearing age.
